INJECTABLES

Neuromodulators:

To understand if a neuromodulator, also known as a wrinkle relaxer, is the right treatment for your skin, it is important to first understand why wrinkles appear. Wrinkles form over time from muscle contractions and repeated movements, such as smiling, squinting, frowning or pursing your lips. But since no one wants to live life without laughing or smiling, luckily – science can help us battle the wrinkles that laughter creates!

Neuromodulators work by temporarily blocking the release of the chemical which triggers muscle contractions. When these chemicals are blocked, muscles can’t contract, leaving the skin looking smoother and less wrinkled.  Depending on the treatment you choose, results can last anywhere from four months to a year, and many typically wrinkled areas on the face can be treated including: glabellar lines (vertical lines between the eyebrows), forehead furrows, crow’s feet, nasolabial folds (deep lines on either side of the mouth), vertical lines over the lips, and marionette lines around the chin. Additionally, using injectables to treat wrinkles is believed to produce long-term, anti-aging results that are far more impactful than topical creams and serums alone.

Although wrinkle relaxers all have a similar effect on the skin, there are a variety of options available to suit your particular needs and skin concerns. During our initial consultation, we will discuss each neurotoxin thoroughly in order to choose the best treatment for your lifestyle and skin concerns.

  • Botox®

    • Botox® Cosmetic (onabotulinumtoxinA) is an injectable that is used to temporarily disrupt muscle activity, which in turn helps improve the appearance of moderate to severe frown lines between the brows (the ‘elevens’), crow’s feet, horizontal forehead lines or furrows, and fine lines around the lips. Treatment typically lasts about four months and results may be seen in as little as a few days.

    • Botox can also treat hyperhidrosis, excessive sweating. It refers to any abnormal sweating, such as sweating when it’s not hot. People who sweat excessively often soak through their clothing or drip sweat. Regular antiperspirants don’t work well for those with this condition. Botox has been FDA-approved for people who sweat excessively from their armpits.

  • Dysport®

    • Dysport® (abobotulinumtoxinA) is also an injectable used to temporarily improve the appearance of moderate to severe frown lines between the eyebrows. Known for producing very ‘natural’ looking results, Dysport may last for up to 4 months and benefits may be seen within a couple of days.

Dermal and Volumizing Fillers:

Along with a smooth, wrinkle-free complexion, other hallmarks of youthful skin are plumpness, firmness and tautness.  As we age, subcutaneous fat, that thin layer of fat found just below the skin that provides cushion and softness, diminishes, leaving the skin looking thin and hollow, especially around the cheeks, lips and jawline.

Dermal fillers are used to revive this lost fullness and return cushion and firmness to areas of the skin that have become lose, hollow or sagging due to age, environmental damage, heredity and lifestyle choices.  In addition, dermal fillers may also be used to soften fine lines and wrinkles, as well as to add enhanced fullness to thin lips.

  • Belotero Balance®

    • Belotero Balance® is an injectable wrinkle filler that specifically targets the nasolabial fold – wrinkles that stretch from the nose down to the corners of the mouth, as well as those small lines found etched around and above the lips. Often called ‘smoker’s lines’ because they are prevalent in people who smoke, these wrinkles can be moderate to severe. Once injected, Belotero Balance feels natural to the touch, and doesn’t impede normal facial expressions. Treatments are visible immediately and results may last up to four months.

  • Juvéderm®

    • A non-surgical hyaluronic acid (HA) filler, Juvéderm® helps to instantly minimize the appearance of moderate to severe lines around the nose and mouth, as well as smile lines, vertical lip lines and marionette (or vertical) lines on the chin. This formulation contains a topical pain reducer (lidocaine) to help improve injection site comfort. Results are immediate and can last for up to one year, making Juvéderm a popular choice among dermal fillers.

  • Radiesse®

    • Made from calcium hydroxylapatite (CaHA) microspheres suspended in an aqueous gel, Radiesse® works in a similar fashion to Juvéderm to plump and fill the skin around the nose and mouth, the corners of the mouth, pre-jowls, chin wrinkles, and for cheek augmentation.  Over time, the CaHA microspheres are metabolized by the body, leaving behind natural collagen which helps to enhance the overall filling result and provide longer-term plumpness to the skin. Radiesse may last for up to a year and is available with lidocaine to reduce pain at the injection site.

  • Restylane®

    • Restylane® is a clear hyaluronic acid (HA) gel used to help enhance the volume and fullness of moderateto severe nasolabial folds around the nose and mouth.  This treatment may also be used to enhance lip and cheek volume, as well as smooth fine lines on the forehead and around the lips, and sculpt the jaw line.  Results are visible instantly, and typically last for up to six months.

  • Voluma®

    • Voluma® is a hyaluronic acid (HA) based injectable filler that is specifically targeted to improving the fullness and volume of the cheeks, which is often lost with age, environmental damage or heredity. Containing lidocaine to help manage injection-site discomfort, this filler looks remarkably natural once injected, and patients may see results for up to two years.

  • Sculptra®

    • Sculptra® is a non-surgical, cosmetic treatment for reducing facial lines and wrinkles and creating a fuller, more youthful appearance to your face. Also known as the “liquid facelift,” Sculptra® works by both filling in lines and wrinkles and by stimulating your body to produce new collagen and underlying tissue. Sculptra achieves excellent results as a global volumizer of the face.

Kybella:

  • Kybella® is the first FDA approved procedure for the treatment of excess fat under the chin. Often called submental fat or a 'double chin', until now, fat in this area has been hard to lose, even with exercise and dieting. Now, Kybella finally offers a real solution. Kybella is an injectable treatment that targets and destroys fat cells for a sleeker, more sculpted appearance. Using synthetic deoxycholic acid-a molecule that occurs naturally in the body- Kybella aids in the breakdown of stubborn, hard-to-lose fat in the chin area. Whether you have a little or a lot of fat you'd like to smooth away, Kybella produces impressive, long-term results that can dramatically sculpt the appearance of your face.

QWO:

  • QWO (collagenase clostridium histolyticum-aaes) is the first and only FDA-approved injectable for the treatment of moderate to severe cellulite in the buttocks of adult women. QWO (pronounced kwhoa) contains two types of collagen-degrading enzymes that eat away at the fibrous bands (or fibrous septae) connecting skin to muscle, gradually dissolving the tethers and allowing the skin to float up and smooth out.
